Here is a true story about an encouraging experience that one of our guests had at The Journey back in 2005. His name is withheld for privacy reasons.

2005 had been a year of deep grief for this man. That year, he had buried his wife, his son, his father and his mother, which left him with three children. And though he really didn’t feel like it, he decided to bring his family out to The Journey. His decision was even tougher that night because it was cold and rainy...but he came anyway.

The next day, he called the church office to tell us what had happened to him that night. Visitors are taken across the lake where the Journey begins. Each person is given a biblical name and a role they can assume. For example: You are Matthew a carpenter from the city of Damascus.

The man and his three kids were given the names: Rachel, Miriam, Elijah and Daniel.

Now, the caller said that when they got those names, he was so moved he couldn’t speak to anyone about it. But the message he got was this: God knows where we are...and he cares about our losses...and He wants us to know it!

Now friends, he could have spent that cold and rainy evening watching TV. But he didn’t. And he was blessed because of it!

What an AMAZING story! At the same time we both said “This was definitely a GOD THING!” That’s the ONLY explanation for it! On the slowest, rainiest night God still had divine appointments with people and reached down and touched this family in a very tangible way! Share this story with everyone you know to reaffirm what God is doing through us here at The Journey!

AWESOME!!! What more can I say?

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We were in the Link and the music was fantastic. In fact, I was so involved with the music the man sitting next to us had to tell me to get up because our Tribe was leaving! I could have sat there all night listening to those young people. I love praise music.

Bethlehem was amazing. It was as if you were back in time. I was like a little kid petting all the animals.

I’m leaving Wednesday to spend Christmas with my Son and daughter in-law. I’ll be there through the 26th. When I return, I’m going to try your church. I really like the fact that there are many services you can attend. It gives you options and also no excuse for not going to church. Thank you so much for telling me about Journey.

God Bless you for helping me realize I need to start attending church again.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has made the Journey possible. I have enjoyed so much being apart of something that has touched many lives including my own. My daughte,r who is 8, has asked to return every night to participate. It has been a blessing in our lives that the two of us have been able to do this together. I pray that how people feel when they come to the Journey will be felt by them the entire year through!

It is wonderful to see everyone coming together and making this a time of worship and blessing to all who come. I have heard many positive comments from people who have attended the Journey. Its a blessing to hear how this has touched their lives.

So thank you for the gift of allowing my daughter and myself to participate in something that is reaching the lives of those who see it.

Sincerely,
Sheila Malekia 12/10/2007

"I am a chevalier by the Patriach and belong to the Syrian Orthodox church in India. I am a retired VP of engineering having worked for GE worldwide. My grandchildren attend your school and church. During the past 3 Sundays I attended services at SCC and my children purchased tickets for me and my wife to go for The Journey.

The effort displayed by your congregation and the what we gained from attending was nothing less than number 1. Even movies like "The Robe" could not match the costume that your Romans had at the event. Well done to all of you and thanks for bringing the real message of Christmas to all.

All the Best of Luck and God Bless.
