A God Thing

Hi guys,
I just have to share this "Hallmark movie moment" with you all!

Today, as you know, I was a little worried about the bread situation and prices. Well - I just stopped at my desk and prayed - not specifically about the bread - but about the whole Journey!

I tried calling the bakery manager at Wal-Mart - where we can get the whole pumpernickel loaves - the only place so far that supplies them at a reasonable cost. I could not get an answer. So, I headed over there. I had the best experience there - amazing I know at Wal-Mart!

The 3 ladies in the bakery were SO helpful and ordered me a bulk load of loaves for the first week. When I asked again about a price break they said they had already asked the manager for me and that Wal-Mart could not do that. As I was standing there, one of the ladies wheeled up a cart full of the artisan bread that we would need - all ready to be marked down 40%! So I bought a load to put in the freezer and they told me what time every day to go in and check for it. Then... as I was waiting for them to mark it down I told them all about Journey and another shopper overheard me. She wanted to know all about it and I gave her a Journey card with all the details on it. Everyone seemed so excited to hear about it!

As this was happening who should come up behind me but the store manager. He seemed to listen in on what was going on. So I told him about Journey and thought I would try one more time to ask for a price break! He said that Wal-Mart could not do that as they are retail and not wholesale but... if I could give him a letter on official SCC letter head stationary explaining what we needed he could give us a donation!!! Wow... answered prayer or what!!

I drove away feeling God's presence so near and renewed in my quest to make this the best Journey ever (and with the cheapest food if we can!). I wanted to share this with you to encourage you and thank you for all your tireless work. I know this puts a huge strain on you all and your families, but it will be so worth it for so many who will come.
